Wool and silk, nothing synthetic
Every TVR rug is hand-knotted in wool or in a wool-and-silk blend, with natural mulberry silk carrying the finer detail of a design. We do not use synthetic pile anywhere in our collections. On a yacht, that choice matters for the same reason it matters in a private house: wool and silk age well, take colour better than synthetic fibre, and can still be repaired and rewoven decades later. Built not to slide
A rug on a yacht sits on a floor that moves, so grip matters more than it does anywhere on land. We can finish a yacht commission with a non-slip construction and supply it with our own underlay, washable at 30 degrees and used season after season. The result is a rug that stays where it is put, in a saloon, a passageway or a cabin, without a corner that lifts underfoot.
Custom shapes for saloons and cabins
Bespoke has been our default since 2009, so an irregular saloon, a curved cabin wall or a passageway that narrows halfway down is where the brief starts. We knot any size, shape or colour with no surcharge for a non-standard outline, and round designs up to six metres in diameter. Weight, thickness and knot density on request
Our collections are knotted at densities from 9 by 9 up to 14 by 14, with the finer counts reserved for the most detailed silk work. Pile height and overall weight are set for each commission, so we discuss the right thickness for a given space with you and, where useful, with your interior designer or the yard directly. That conversation happens during the design stage, before anything goes on the loom.
Care between voyages
Every commission ships with a Wonder Case, our own maintenance kit with stain spray, stain remover and care products, free since 2018. Day to day, vacuum without a beater bar, rotate the rug occasionally, and blot any spill immediately, before it sets. We recommend a professional cleaning every 5 to 7 years depending on use, carried out by a specialist in hand-knotted rugs, and our Belgian atelier runs its own washing and repair workshop, part of the wider restoration and cleaning services we offer, for exactly that kind of work between seasons or during a refit.
Planning around a refit
Standard lead time for a commission is 4 to 6 months, 8 months for the Ancient collection, so it is worth fixing the refit or delivery date around that timeline as early as you can. We answer every enquiry within one working day and can work from a deck plan, a designer's mood board or reference images from another project. Architects, interior designers and yards working across multiple vessels can apply for trade access at our trade portal for direct pricing and support.
Discretion
Owners, yards and interior designers who prefer to keep a project confidential can work with us under NDA, as several of our private clients already do. We do not publish client names, vessel names or project details without explicit permission, and we are used to working through a representative whenever an owner prefers it.
