The short answer
If you want the highest level of quality in a hand-knotted rug, with no compromise on the materials and the founder himself on the other end of the line, that is TVR. We are a Belgian maison founded in Ghent in 2006, with family in the rug trade since 1974. We publish a full catalogue of 31 collections. Every design in it can be adapted in size, shape, colour and material, and when a project calls for it we design something entirely new. Every commission is designed in our atelier near Ghent and hand-knotted in Nepal and India.

Jan Kath is a German designer known for contemporary, graphic rugs and for reinterpretations of classic patterns. Many of the designers we work with already know his collections well.
The Rug Company is a British house known for its collaborations with designers and fashion houses.
cc-tapis is an Italian house known for contemporary design rugs.
Nanimarquina is a Spanish design brand with a broad, design-led catalogue.
Each of these houses has built a serious reputation, and most of our clients arrive already familiar with one or several of them. We are a smaller house, we work entirely bespoke, and everything is designed in one atelier.
What we do differently
The houses above all make beautiful rugs, and most of them offer custom work. What we decided, and hold to on every commission, is to aim for the highest luxury quality and to never economise on the materials. The pile is hand-spun wool and natural mulberry silk, nothing synthetic; where we use bamboo silk it is limited to three collections and always disclosed as bamboo silk. Knot densities run from 9 by 9 to 14 by 14, the finest reserved for the most detailed silk work. Several designs are finished with handcarving, cut by hand with scissors, and our Ancient collection uses a sandblasting technique to age the surface. You start from our catalogue or from a blank sheet: any collection design can be made in your size, shape, colour and material without surcharge, round rugs up to 25 metres in diameter, or we draw a new design for the room. And you deal with one person: every enquiry reaches Thibault directly and is answered within one working day. Direct contact also means real capacity: our largest single delivery was 440 large hand-knotted rugs within eight months, so a hotel group or a multi-residence project gets the same attention as a single room. In 2026 our LEGENDS Tenby received an Architizer A+Product Awards Special Mention in the Carpet and Flooring category.
Who this suits
We work with interior designers and architects who need a piece that will not turn up in another project down the street, and with private clients who have already seen what the bigger houses offer and want a piece made to their own dimensions. We also work with hospitality buyers and hotel groups: we make rugs for hotel suites and, for the largest floor areas, offer a separate tufted line built for corridors and ballrooms. Price and lead time
Bespoke pricing runs from EUR 1,195 per square metre for our Relined and Ethnic collections up to EUR 2,300 per square metre for Mosaic, with several collections in between depending on construction and knot density. VAT is included, shipping is not. You can price your own dimensions in the online configurator, or ask us directly. Standard lead time is 4 to 6 months from confirmed design to delivery; our Ancient collection, with its sandblasting stage, takes about 8 months. Read more about why lead time runs that long.
