SOBERON masterpieces
by
KOEN SOBERON and THIBAULT VAN RENNE
Thibault Van Renne was captivated by the abstract art of Koen Soberon. He approached Koen for a collaboration.
The idea was to take Soberon's artwork and reintegrate it through different graphic conversion styles and blended colorations, arriving at a new artwork entirely.
These pieces are woven in 80% natural silk and 20% wool in a unique innovative blend that creates play in color and adds depth to the surface. In the history of handmade modern design carpets, no pieces have been more intricate or detailed. With more than 20 colors and color changes almost every two knots, the difficulty of execution is without precedent. Fifth-generation weavers with over 20 years of experience spent nearly two years completing the series. The result is the pinnacle of arts and crafts in contemporary designer carpets.
Thibault Van Renne is known for pushing the limits of handmade-rug production. "Exploring the endless possibilities of an empty canvas." After ten days he arrived at five unique artworks. They mark the convergence of painted art and oriental rug design, a collision of modern and classic that has always fascinated him.
These pieces are produced once, a series of five works of art in a quality only Thibault Van Renne can achieve.
