HEAVENLY EARTH

Through this collaboration, we have taken inspiration from the colors and composition of earth as seen from above. The planet is ever-changing; our rugs are contemporary in their representation of the planet as it stands today, yet traditional in the age-old craft of hand weaving. The results are an array of nature-inspired patterns and colors unlike anything produced before.

The concept originated when Todd Davis was captivated by satellite images of the earth. The compositions and colors were infinite, beyond what any human imagination could generate alone. The vision: take what nature created, apply modern technology to interpret it as a design, then hand weave it into wall hangings and rugs.

Thibault Van Renne and Todd Davis met by chance. After an hour of intense creative exchange, they agreed to develop this idea into a new rug line. Having spent over 20 years custom-designing carpets and rugs, Rob and Todd immediately recognized that Thibault, with his 12 years of experience, was the right partner to bring the project to life. The shared goal: rugs that are original and beautiful above all else.

The wall hangings offer a literal interpretation of the earth's imagery, woven in the highest-quality silk and wool. From those wall hangings, floor rugs were developed using a portion of each hanging's design.

Brown Davis selects the location and image for each piece and is involved at every stage of the creative process. Thibault Van Renne applies his extensive knowledge, creativity, and meticulous attention to detail to interpret each image using the latest digital technology. Translating raw satellite imagery into a weavable pattern is a complex, time-consuming process that demands great skill. The wall hangings often incorporate more than 20 colors, a challenge that requires only the most skilled weavers. The weavers at Thibault Van Renne bring more than 15 years of experience at the highest level. Fifth-generation craftspeople, they take exceptional pride in their work. Thibault's expertise brings it all together in rugs of outstanding quality and design.

From initial vision to final execution, this project has required a team that is experienced, considered, and willing to push boundaries. We will continue creating one-of-a-kind pieces from different regions of the planet, as well as floor rugs drawn from those designs. We are proud to be the first to offer rugs of this concept.
