A New Digital Home for Thibault Van Renne
Twenty years ago, I started by seeking out the most beautiful hand-knotted pieces I could find. Over time, I began designing my own collections, working with the finest ateliers in India and Nepal to bring them to life. The rugs found their way to clients who understood that real craft takes time. The website, honestly, never kept up.
That changes today. We've rebuilt thibaultvanrenne.com from the ground up, and I wanted to take a moment to explain why, and what you'll find when you explore it.
Why Now
For two decades, our luxury hand-knotted rugs have spoken for themselves in showrooms, at trade fairs, and in the private residences where they end up. But the way people discover interior design has shifted. Architects send mood boards digitally. Clients browse collections on their phone before they ever step into a showroom. The digital experience needed to match the craft.
This wasn't about following a trend. It was about giving our work the presentation it deserves, the same attention to detail we put into every hand-knotted wool and silk piece that leaves our atelier.
What You'll Find
Collection pages that breathe. Every collection now has its own dedicated space, with full-scale imagery, material details, and the story behind the designs. You can browse by mood, by material, or simply let the work pull you in.
AR room visualizer. This is the feature I'm most proud of. Point your phone at your floor, select a rug, and see it in your actual space, at the correct scale and proportion. It's not a substitute for feeling the wool between your fingers, but it's the next best thing for getting a sense of how a bespoke carpet works in your room.
360-degree production tour. Follow the journey from raw wool in India and Tibet through to the finished piece. See the hands that tie each knot, the natural dyes, the months of patient work. If you've ever wondered what goes into a hand-knotted rug, this is where you'll find out.
Interactive catalogues. Page through our full catalogues online, zoom into details, and save pieces that catch your eye. No downloads, no PDFs lost in your inbox.
Four languages. The site is fully available in English, Dutch, French, and German, because our clients and design partners span the continent.
The Craft Behind the Digital
I'll admit I approached this project the same way I approach a new rug design. Every detail matters. The typography, the way images load, the feel of scrolling through a collection. It had to feel considered, not cluttered. Like walking into a well-designed room, not a department store.
We worked to make sure the site is fast, clean, and puts the work front and centre. No distractions, no unnecessary noise.
Come and Explore
A website is a starting point. The real experience is still in person, in our showroom in Evergem, where you can feel the weight of the wool, see how silk catches light, and discuss custom rug sizing for your project.
But until then, I hope the new site gives you a genuine sense of what we do and why we do it.
Get in touch whenever you're ready. We'd love to hear from you.
