Human Rights Statement

At Thibault Van Renne, every hand-knotted rug represents thousands of hours of skilled craftsmanship. We believe that the people who create these works of art deserve dignity, fair compensation, and safe working conditions. Our commitment to human rights is not an afterthought — it is woven into the fabric of everything we do.

Our Commitment

As a proud member of Care & Fair, the European carpet industry initiative, we adhere to strict ethical production standards across our entire supply chain. This includes:

  • Zero tolerance for child labour in any workshop or facility
  • Fair wages: our artisans earn at least three times the local average wage
  • Comprehensive health insurance for all craftspeople and their families
  • Safe and well-ventilated working environments in all production ateliers
  • Annual independent compliance audits of every workshop we partner with

Supply Chain Transparency

Our rugs are crafted in specialised ateliers in India and Nepal. Each workshop is personally vetted and regularly visited by our team. We maintain long-term relationships with our artisan partners, many spanning over two decades, ensuring continuity of standards and mutual trust.

Community Investment

Beyond fair wages, we contribute to community programmes that support education, healthcare, and skills training in the regions where our rugs are produced. Through Care & Fair, we help fund schools and medical facilities for carpet-weaving communities in India and Nepal.

Reporting Concerns

We encourage anyone with concerns about human rights in our supply chain to contact us directly. All reports are treated confidentially and investigated thoroughly.

This statement reflects our ongoing commitment as of April 2026. We review and update our human rights practices annually.
